Our project now has a paper on arXiv

development news

Emily Hunt, 26 January 2026

Today, we put a conference paper on the arXiv about our project! The paper outlines the motivation, technical background, and first 30 months of our project. We also dug up some statistics about the Astronomy feeds, and we’re delighted to see how much they’ve been used across the first two and a half years of our work - having nearly 2000 registered posters (including big astronomy organizations like ESA!), and averaging 92,000 unique visitors a week across 2025.

Our project is multiple people: we have multiple developers and moderators, many of whom are early career researchers for whom papers are the currency showing how much progress they’re making in their careers. Having a citable document about the project is also a great way for us to cement our intentions to remain a serious project that sticks around long-term.

Feel free to check out the paper if you’d like to find out more!
